Transport yourself to the Goa region of India with our vindaloo. We combine white rice, potatoes, vegetables, and natural chicken with a spicy curry to create a flavorful, soul warming dish.
Spicy and hearty, we’re never sure whether to call this stew-y or sauce-y, but you can decide yourself when you add 2 cups of boiling water and wait for 20 minutes. Talk about easy to prepare. It’s lightweight too but never light in nutrition—15 grams of protein per serving to keep you going. This freeze-dried dish has all-natural white meat chicken, long grain white rice and veggies. Indian-style Vindaloo sauce completes it, so that you’re not left without an authentic, international favorite in the back-country. We love the combination of turmeric, cayenne pepper and ginger. With spices like that, this meal is a pick-me-up for sure, so paddle on friends, this meal will keep you powered especially when the current’s strong. No gluten hiding in here though, and like all of our gluten-free meals, it’s tested to 20 ppm so you won’t be left wondering if you’re getting only the good stuff. On top of that, it’s preservative free and with a 7-year shelf life. Freeze-dried has never looked so good as Backpacker’s Pantry Chicken Vindaloo.

Sauce [chicken (cooked, diced and freeze-dried), onion, potatoes, tomato, vegetarian soup with imitation chicken flavor (maltodextrin, salt, autolyzed yeast extract, yeast extract, onion powder, turmeric extract (color), sunflower oil), sugar, garlic, white vinegar (maltodextrin and distilled vinegar), chili powder (chili pepper, spices, salt, garlic), turmeric, cayenne pepper, ginger, cumin seed, coriander seed, pepper, cinnamon], precooked long grain white rice, organic extra virgin olive oil.
Remove and discard enclosed oxygen absorber before beginning food preparation. Remove Olive Oil Packet and add oil to other ingredients. Add 2-1/4 cups (540 mL) of boiling water to all contents. Stir well. Seal and let sit for 15-20 minutes. Stir and serve.
